My Story

My journey began in the world of art and creativity, working as a freelance recording engineer. Through music, I learned the importance of collaboration, creative problem-solving, and the power of bringing diverse ideas together to build something meaningful. This artistic foundation shaped my strategic and creative approach to challenges, always driven by relentless curiosity.

A major chapter in my professional life was leading operations and strategy at AMT Ambulance, giving me deep insights into the complexities of running a business. When AMT closed its doors, I saw it as an opportunity to expand my skill set further by formally studying mechanical engineering. Engineering school was incredibly rewarding, providing rigorous training in problem-solving, mechanical design, and unexpectedly, coding and robotics, which ignited my passion for software development.

My first engineering role after graduation was at JBL, a global leader in audio products. Over four years, I had the opportunity to work on flagship products, collaborating closely with renowned engineers like Jacques Spillman and Alex Voishvillo. This period allowed me to significantly contribute to innovative rigging systems and acoustic transducer designs, earning multiple design patents. At JBL, I learned the critical importance of balancing technical innovation, user-focused design, and practical manufacturing considerations, all while aligning closely with real market needs and customer experiences. Equally important, I discovered the limitations and inefficiencies even in established companies, recognizing opportunities for improvement and innovation by challenging conventional processes and assumptions.

Driven by the desire for innovation and a bit of frustration with the status quo, I founded GPUwiz, a stock-market-inspired marketplace for graphics cards. GPUwiz was an invaluable experience in building a software product from scratch. While I leveraged my previous experiences in operations, engineering, and design, GPUwiz taught me equally valuable lessons from mistakes made, highlighting the importance of leaner launches, early customer validation, efficient hiring practices, and structured agile development.

Currently, I'm pursuing a Master’s degree in Integrated Design, Business & Technology at USC’s prestigious Iovine & Young Academy, a program focused on innovation, entrepreneurship, human-centered design, and strategic business skills essential for successfully launching new ventures. This education complements my hands-on experiences, deepening my expertise in product management and innovation strategy.

Highlights

  • Extensive combined hardware and software product development experience.

  • Multiple design patents earned at JBL.

  • Successfully built GPUwiz from initial concept through launch, gaining firsthand insights into both effective and less effective product management practices.

Life Beyond Products

Outside my professional life, I'm a dedicated father eagerly awaiting the day my kids are old enough for us to dive into coding, robotics, and maybe even launching ventures together. I enjoy engaging in DIY projects, most recently, building a custom staircase at home and maintaining my reef aquarium, activities that inspire and energize my creativity.
